Issues The introduction of electrically propelled vehicles raises particular issues concerning standardization and regulation, also due to the fact that the electrically propelled vehicle encompasses varying technologies such as automotive and electrotechnical technology. Standardization activities about electric vehicles are performed by international standardization organizations: IEC TC69 ISO TC22 SC21 CENELEC TC69X CEN TC301 Since over 10 years, CITELEC is involved in the activities of these committees, as a delegate of the Belgian national committee, and is parcitipating in the drafting of new standards, highlighting the user's point of view. Most standards can be divided in three categories: Safety standards: protection of personnel Dimensional standards: compatibility, e.g. of plugs and sockets Performance standards: measurement procedures.
